Statoil
Statoil
North America

Statoil is an international energy company with operations in 37 countries. We progressively build on our 40 years experience of offshore oil and gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf. We are dedicated to developing, producing and supplying energy in the most responsible way possible and apply innovative technological and business solutions to achieve this goal.

Statoil is headquartered in Norway with 21,000 employees worldwide, and is listed on the New York and Oslo Stock Exchanges. For more information, please visit www.statoil.com.

Our North American upstream activities are managed from two main offices located in Houston, Texas and Calgary, Alberta. Our midstream, marketing and trading activities are managed from our office in  Stamford, Connecticut. We additionally staff offices in Anchorage, Alaska; Austin, Texas; Washington, D.C; and Williston, North Dakota, as well as in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico. We also own and operate the South Riding Point oil terminal in the Bahamas.

Statoil in North America

Statoil is an accomplished exploration and production company. We count four decades experience as a major oil and gas operator in such harsh environments as the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea. Statoil is built on a foundation of best practices within technological innovation and carry this competence to each and every new project worldwide. Our extensive experience, rigorous safety standards and environmental awareness are an integral part of the way we operate.

We are now active in some of the most exciting energy resource areas of North America with a focus on deep-water exploration and production, shale and tight rock hydrocarbons and heavy oil.

Our North American portfolio is a key growth engine for Statoil and imperative to the success of our global strategy. We expect our oil and gas production in the U.S. and Canada to grow from less than 100,000 boe/d in 2011 to more than 500,000 boe/d in 2020.

Onshore
The U.S. unconventional plays hold a substantial resource base and represent an increasingly important part of future energy supplies. Statoil has step by step developed industrial capabilities through early entrance into Marcellus and Eagle Ford. Entering the Bakken and Three Forks tight oil plays and taking on operatorship represents a new significant step for Statoil. We are positioning ourselves as a leading player in the fast growing US onshore oil and gas industry, in line with the strategic direction we have
set out.

Game-changing unconventionals
Over the past few years, advances in proven technologies have unlocked vast, game-changing supplies of oil and natural gas trapped more than a mile underground in previously inaccessible shale formations across the United States and Canada. The technological breakthrough was pioneered in the U.S., and holds promise for developing unconventional formations around the world.

Statoil has taken a step-by-step, best practice approach to learning and excelling in the implementation of shale development technologies in three of the most exciting shale and tight oil formations in the U.S.
We are poised to become a leading onshore player in North America, able to fully develop this phenomenal expanse of resources with all of the same high standards applied to Statoil’s holdings globally.

Offshore
Statoil is one of the world’s largest subsea operators and has developed a number of technical solutions well-suited to the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Many of our subsea technology breakthroughs are changing the way the oil industry operates, for example, the increased use of sophisticated seabed installations. We also make significant contributions to safer operations and environmentally responsible solutions.

Statoil owns interests in four producing offshore fields in the U.S and two producing fields offshore Canada. We are one of the largest leaseholders in the deep-water areas of the Gulf of Mexico and off Canada’s East Coast, and we possess a substantial portfolio of exploration acreage as both operator and partner. We also have exploration licenses in the Chukchi Sea in Alaska.

Community Involvement Heroes of Tomorrow
The success of Statoil is down to individuals with the ability and desire to think outside the box. Individuals who strive to make the impossible possible. Individuals with the skills and determination to achieve
remarkable results.

It is individuals like these who hold the key to a successful future—not just for your
company but for society as a whole. We like to call them heroes of tomorrow.

Heroes who inspire us and bring us together, such as high achievers in the fields of sports and culture. However, because our world is facing major challenges, we also need highly skilled professionals to help us progress in the future. This is why Statoil supports the heroes of tomorrow in the world of sports, culture and education. For everyone’s benefit and joy.
