Memorial Drive United Methodist Church
Loving God. Loving neighbor.

Memorial Drive United Methodist Church has been a vibrant, active community of faith for 54 years. On July 13, 1958, forty-four people gathered for worship at the former Chapman’s Corner Restaurant on Old Katy Road. That fledgling church grew, and on Christmas Eve 1961, 400 members met for the inaugural worship service at their new sanctuary on Memorial Drive.

Since those foundational days, the church has increased in all ways; membership, buildings, programs and community presence have all flourished. The present sanctuary, with its beautiful stained glass and soaring cathedral ceiling, was dedicated for worship on February 8, 1977.

MDUMC continues to break ground, literally and spiritually.
In 2001, The Connection Center was added as a second campus, housing The Gate (Senior Adult Activity Center), The Refuge (Youth Center), and The Well (Performing Arts facility and worship home for the journey). The property continues to be developed for arts, study, fellowship and community outreach programs.

During Lent 2012, MDUMC introduced Via-The Way of the Disciple. Via is a groundbreaking focus for committed Christians willing to examine their faith walk and challenge themselves to more fully answer Christ’s call to his disciples:

Worship, Grow, Witness and Give.
MDUMC is a congregation of 7,400 growing souls, committed people who live out Christ’s commandment to love God and love neighbor. We invite you to become a part of this family of faith.

Come share with us your passion for God.
