Technology is propelling our growth. We’re focusing on technologies that improve our chances of finding, developing and producing oil and natural gas. We are also investing in the development of emerging energy technologies – such as finding better ways to make non-food-based biofuels, creating hydrogen fuel systems, devising commercial uses for nano-materials and expanding our renewable energy resources.
Chevron’s Energy Technology Company (ETC), headquartered in Houston, is the research and development and technical services component of the company. Through innovation and the expertise of more than 2,300 researchers, scientists, engineers, technical experts and support personnel, we solve the technical challenges of finding and producing new energy reserves and sources safely and economically, while protecting the environment and supporting those communities in which we operate.
To complement existing centers in California and Texas, we have established technology centers in Australia and Scotland to focus on regional technology application. These strategically located centers are addressing such issues as how to increase recovery rates in mature North Sea oilfields and how to improve gas production in the Pacific Rim and get that gas to market.
At Chevron, we know supplying the nation’s energy needs is an issue that must be addressed today and for years to come. Our technical teams in Houston and elsewhere around the world have opened the door to new prospects.
