Houston Community College System
A LEARNING COMMUNITY, A CARING COMMUNITy.

Drawing students from near and far, Houston Community College (HCC) mirrors the diversity, openness and opportunity of the world-class city that is Houston. Since its opening in 1971, more than 1.3 million students have improved their lives through education and training obtained from HCC.

HCC is committed to meeting the needs of our diverse communities, providing academic courses for transfer to four-year institutions, degrees and certificates in more than 70 fields of work, continuing education and corporate training.

HCC serves an area that spans 623 square miles and has 22 instructional sites throughout the area. Enrollment for the 2008-09 academic year passed 60,000. New facilities at Central, Northeast and Southwest Colleges were completed in the 2008-2009 academic year. Campus Learning Hubs will centralize services for HCC students, as well as provide a standardized look for student services throughout the colleges. Facilities that opened in the past year include a new campus in Missouri City, the new Northline Campus and the Alief Campus.

Houston Community College’s success illustrates its dedication to the initiatives originally set forth for the college. Although the Official Statement of Purpose has changed its wording over the last three decades, HCC’s purpose has remained steady.
